The collegiate church was originally a St. Mary's and St. Margaret's Church and served as a church for the nuns. After the independent St. Andrew's Church was demolished in 1794, the St. Andrew's patronage "migrated" to the collegiate church - since then it has had the double patronage of St. Mary and St. Andreas.
